「主はいま、ヤコブの家に、み顔をかくしておられるとはいえ、わたしはその主を待ち、主を望みまつる。見よ、わたしと、主のわたしに賜った子たちとは、シオンの山にいます万軍の主から与えられたイスラエルのしるしであり、前ぶれである。」
イザヤ書8:17,18

"I will wait for the LORD, who is hiding his face from the house of Jacob. I will put my trust in him. Here am I, and the children the LORD has given me. We are signs and symbols in Israel from the LORD Almighty, who dwells on Mount Zion."

神を見失ったユダの民。
その民とともに歩み、ともに伏す預言者イザヤ。
「神はどこにいるのか」「我々は捨てられた」
すべての民が顔を伏せる中にあって、彼はなお顔を上げる。主の顔を仰ぐために。
かってはその顔を見て死ぬことを思った彼が（6章）、いま生きるためにその顔を再び見ることを願う。
その民が生きるために。
希望のおとずれをまっさきに見、そしてそのおとずれを民に告げ知らせるために。
